Hari Raya Day
Eid al- fitr is an important religious holiday celebrated by muslims worldwide that marks the end of Ramadan,the islamic holy month of fasting. The religious eid is the first and only day in the month of Syawal during which muslims are not permitted to fast.
The holiday celebrates the permitted fast. The holiday celebrates the conclusion of the 29 or 30 days of dawn to sunset fasting during the entire of Ramadhan. The day of eid falls on first day of the month Syawal.
The date for the start of any lunar Hijri month variety dated on the observation pf new moon by local religious authorities, so the exact day of the celebration varies by locality.
Deepavali
Deepavali is India's biggest and most important holiday of the year . The festival of lights, sees millions attend firework displays, prayers and celebratory events across the world every autumn . The festival were celebrated by Hindus, Sikhs and Jains .
To celebrate this festival, houses will be decorated with candles and colourful lights and huge firework displays was held while families feast and share gifts .
The festival usually falls between the middle of October and the middle of November, although this is decide upon by the Hindu lunar calender .
Thaipusam
Thaipusam or Thaipoosam (Tamil: தைப்பூசம், Taippūcam ) is a festival celebrated by the Tamil community on the full moon in the Tamil month of Thai (January/February).
It is mainly observed in countries where there is a significant presence of Tamil community such as India, Sri Lanka, Malaysia,Mauritius,Singapore,South Africa and other places where ethnic Hindu.
Thaipusam is a day where believers redeem themselves from sin, perform prayers and repent.
The festival is celebrated in honour of Lord Subramaniam (also known as Lord Murugan), who represents virtue, youth and power, and is the destroyer of evil. Celebrations are performed by worshipers in the temple.
By doing colorful parade, the Thaipusam festival is said to be a celebration where believers are grateful to their gods, seeking blessings and fulfilling vows.
Thaipusam festival is a public holiday in Malaysia. Thaipusam followers performed their ceremonies at Batu Caves, near Kuala Lumpur & Arulmigu Balathandayuthapani Temple, in George Town, Penang Temple & Nattukkottai Chettiar in Penang. There are also foreign tourists who meet the place where the ceremony is held.
Gawai Day
Gawai Day is an annual festival celebrated by the Dayak people in Sarawak, Malaysia and West Kalimantan, Indonesia on 31 May and 1 June. It is a public holiday in Sarawak and is both a religious and a social occasion recognized since 1957.
Gawai Day was celebrated first time on 1 June 1965. Gawai Day has become a symbol of unity, aspiration and hope of the Dayak people. It was the day when the people expressed their gratitude to the spirits who had given the abundant harvest to the community, and marked the preparation for the new agricultural season and the future life in general.
Before the feast day, they will be busy doing general cleaning, visiting graves, drying paddy and milling, collecting and preparing food and decorating the final home, where necessary. The way Gawai Day celebrations is vary from place to place and preparations will usually start early.
Chinese New Year
Chinese New Year, also known as the "Spring Festival" (Chinese: 春节; traditional Chinese: 春節; Pinyin: Chūn Jié)
In modern China, it is an important Chinese celebration celebrated in the traditional Chinese lunisolar calendar. This festival usually runs from the night before the first day, to the Lantern Festival on the 15th day of the first calendar month.
The first day of the New Year falls on the new moon between Jan 21 and Feb 20. In 2017, the first day of the Chinese New Year on Saturday, January 28, started the year of the Rooster.
Customs and traditions about Chinese New Year festivals are very different. Every evening before the Chinese New Year is an opportunity for Chinese families to gather for an annual gathering dinner.
It is also traditional for every family to clean the house carefully, to eliminate any wealth and to give way to the fate of entering. Windows and doors are decorated with red pieces of paper and coupled with popular themes "good luck" or "happiness", "wealth", and "longevity".
Other activities include firecrackers and giving money in red paper envelopes. In about a third of the landowners, or 500 million Northers, dumplings (mainly vegetarian fillings) have prominent characteristics in the food celebrating the festival.
